Lala specimens sets comes from an anatomy of the characteristics of the self-identified lesbian population on the RED. The specimens in this collection consist of seven common expressions, poses, and accessories that people on RED often use in photos with specific hashtags as signifiers to claim and enhance their lesbian identity. What this collection of specimens shows is not the reality situation of the Chinese lesbian community, but their identity compressed into flat portraits with thin qualities. These signifiers are misinterpretations of the complex Chinese lesbian community by audiences on RED, objectifying and dogmatically labelling lesbian representation  with hashtags.
